Power of Prayer?

Did you see this?

Largest Study of Prayer to Date Finds It Has No Power to Heal
Los Angeles Times, CA

"
The largest study yet on the therapeutic power of prayer by strangers has found that it provided no benefit to the recovery of patients who had undergone cardiac bypass surgery."
------
"I am always a little leery about intercessory prayer," said Marek, director of chaplain services at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Maybe the problem is that they are trying to put God in a box and He didn't want to participate in their study. A couple different verses come to mind:

Matthew 4:7
"
7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test."(NIV)

James 5:13-15
"
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."(KJV)

1 Thessalonians 5:17
"17Pray without ceasing."

Who are you going to listen to?

Joshua 24:15
" 15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

That article doesn't say ONE THING about loving God or the people praying being in relationship with God.
Telling me God doesn't answer prayer is like telling me I've never seen my mother smile.
